Coach Blog December 11

 An up and down weekend saw us unfortunately end up with two losses but a much-improved performance in our second game. Ryukyu showed why they are on top of our conference with a very consistent performance over the two games. Our intensity was not where it should be in the first game but we showed in the second game that when we play the right way we can be a very good team. While I know that we all want to win we have to remember this is a long season and we must continue to improve and we will see the wins start to come especially against the better teams in the competition.

上がったり下がったりのある週末でしたが、残念ながら2敗という結果となってしまいましたが、第2戦のパフォーマンスは大幅に改善できました。琉球は2試合ともとても安定したパフォーマンスでウエスタン・カンファレンス1位である所以を見せていました。第1戦での我々のプレーの強度は必要なレベルに達していませんでした。しかし第2戦では正しくプレーすれば我々はとても良いチームになることができることを見せられたと思います。誰もが勝ちたいのは私も分かっていますが、シーズンは長く、その中で我々は上達し続けなくてはならないことを忘れてはいけません。上位チーム相手にも勝ち始めるようになるはずです。

 With the second game, I like to believe we have set the bench mark now and I expect us to perform with this type of intensity and urgency in every game. The great thing for me as coach is the way the team continues to respond to my challenges and they have bounced back well each time. This shows a team that is willing to learn and improve. The league is very tough with all of the best players now in the same league and wins are tough to come by so it takes great focus and attention to detail to win. If we can show some consistency in this area then we can become a great team.

第2戦では我々のこれからの基盤となる戦い振りができたと思います。私はこのチームに毎試合このようなプレー強度と危機感を持ってプレーするよう求めていきます。コーチとして嬉しいのが、私が問題提起した時のチームの反応や、そこからのチームの挽回が素晴らしい点です。これはチームが学びたい、成長したいと願っている証拠です。このリーグは統一後全てのベストプレーヤーが揃ったことでとてもタフなリーグになりました。その中で勝ち続けていくのは至難です。勝つには高い集中力と細部に到る気配りが必要です。我々はこの高い集中力と細部に到る気配りを安定して発揮できるようになれば素晴らしいチームになることができるでしょう。

 This week Hokkaido come to town. They are well coached and very disciplined. They will offer a challenge of a team that will have a good game plan and use changing defences to try and gain an advantage against the opposition. For us to be successful we will need to match their intensity and be able to counter their changing defences. This will take a great deal of focus especially in late shot clock situations.

今週は北海道が滋賀にやってきます。彼らは良くコーチングされ、良く訓練されたチームです。北海道とはどちらのチームの方が優れたゲームプランを遂行できるか、どちらの方がディフェンスの変化を使ってアドバンテージを得られるか、という対決になります。我々が成功するためには彼らのプレー強度を上回り、ディフェンスの変化に対応しカウンタープレーができなくてはいけません。ショットクロック終盤まで集中力を絶やさずにプレーすることが大切になってきます。

 With Christmas, not far off I hope we can deliver a good Christmas present to you all. On behalf of my wife Lani and I we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We feel very honour to have become part of the Shiga family and to now call Shiga home. We feel very welcomed and Otsu is now our home. Thank you to all.

もうすぐクリスマスということで私たちから良いクリスマスプレゼントをお届できるといいです。妻のラニーと私より皆さんにとって素敵なクリスマスになるようお祈りしています。私たちは滋賀ファミリーの一員になれたことを光栄に思っています。滋賀を第2の故郷と呼ばせてもらっています。手厚くもてなしていただき、大津は私たちの故郷になりました。皆さん、ありがとうございます。
