Coaches Blog – 逆境を乗り越える意思 December 7, 2018
バスケに高いレベルで30年以上携わる中で、優勝の栄光を勝ち取ることもあれば厳しい状況も幾度となく経験してきました。残念ながら今シーズンは、私のキャリアの中でも最も厳しい年になりつつあります。ですが、このチームの素晴らしいところは、どんな時も前向きに取り組む姿を大切にし、なかなか掴めない勝利をものにできるように全力で努力に励み、挽回を試みる気持ちの強さがあるところです。
Fighting though adversity is a constant in life. As a team we are constantly fighting the different obstacles that appear in front of us. This year we have faced many and we continue to try to find a way to overcome them.
I have been part of basketball at a high level now for over 30 years and I have experienced Championship glory and I have also experienced tough times.Unfortunately, at this stage of the season our year is turning into one of the toughest I have encountered in my career. The one thing I love about this team is its willingness to keep a positive attitude and keep working hard to turn our year around and start to get those elusive wins.
問題の１つとして、コンスタントに得点を重ねることができずにいます。この問題が試合の要所で発生し、我々を苦しめています。シュートを決めることに本当に苦しんでいます。この問題の解決は我々に課された大きな課題です。選手もコーチもこの問題解決のために今まで以上に全力で取り組んでいます。
One of our problems has been our consistency scoring the basketball and this has plagued us a crucial times at different stages during games. We go through patches where we really struggle to put the ball in the basket. It is a great challenge trying to solve this problem and the players and coaches are putting in extra work trying to solve this issue.
オフェンスを修正し、より確実な得点方法を選手たちに与えること。それをシステムに落とし込み各々の長所を活かせるポジションに選手を配置し、得点効率を高めることがヘッドコーチの仕事です。得られるチャンスを最大限に活かすことは選手たちの仕事です。しかし、選手たちに自信を持って長所を活かしたプレーをしてもらうためには、まず私がそれができるオフェンスを用意しなくてはなりません。
ディフェンスではある程度の結果を出すことができていますが、オフェンスの遂行力の低さが自分たちのディフェンスに大きな負担を負わせる形になってしまっています。しかし、良いディフェンスからオフェンスでの自信に繋げていくことを我々は学ばなければいけません。ディフェンスによって相手を苦しめることでターンオーバーに繋がり簡単な得点に結びつけることができます。これができるとオフェンスへの自信を高めることができます。チームとして何が何でも相手を止めて速攻のチャンスに変えてやるという気持ちを持たなくてはいけません。体を張ってコブやアザを作ってでもなすべきことをなすことが重要です。
It is my responsibility as the Head Coach to adjust our offence to provide better scoring options for our players and to have the system put the players in their areas of strength to give them the best chance of scoring the basketball. The players responsibilities are to take advantage of these opportunities when they arise. But first I must adjust things to allow the players to play with confidence and to play to their strengths.
On the defensive end we have been reasonably solid so far but our poor offensive execution puts a lot of pressure on our defence. However, we have to learn to build our offensive confidence through solid and sound defence. If we are able to create disruption at the defensive end which leads to turnovers then we can score some easy points which will also help increase our confidence on offence. As a team we have to be prepared to do whatever it takes to get stops and turn this into fast break basketball. We have to put our bodies on the line and get some bumps and bruises to get the job done.
高い集中力とプレー強度を維持し何が何でもやり続ける、妥協しない姿勢が必要です。勝率を高めることが我々の求めているものなのであれば、この姿勢を試合で見せていかなければいけません。スマートに危機感を持ってプレーすることでこのシーズンを挽回することはできるはずです。ここぞというところで勝負を決める直感的な勝負強さを養い勝っている試合は必ず勝つことが求められます。つまり強固なディフェンスで相手を止め、ターンオーバーを誘発し、簡単な得点を積み上げることが必要です。
We have to have a focus and intensity that is relentless and uncompromising. If we are true to increasing our winning record we have to show it in the games. If we play with smarts and urgency then I know this season will turn around. We have to develop the killer instinct and when we put ourselves in a winning position we must capitalize on it. This means really locking down on the defensive end and getting stops and creating turnovers for easy baskets.
12月はたくさん試合があり、勝率を高める絶好の機会をなります。
絶対にこのチャンスをものにしていきます。
