Coaches Blog – July 2018

It has been a very productive off season. We have worked hard to make what we felt were the right changes to the team and to help improve our on-court performance and consistency of play. This meant we had to make some tough decisions. This is the most difficult part of the job. We also unfortunately lost some players that we hoped we could keep but that is the nature of the game.

これまでとても有意義なオフシーズンになっています。

我々がチームにとって必要と感じていた正しい改革、コート上のパフォーマンスとプレーの安定性の向上を目指し懸命に取り組んできました。

その過程では、厳しい判断をしなくてはいけませんでした。

それはこの仕事をする上で最も難しいところです。

残念ながら残って欲しいと願っていた何人かの選手を失いましたが、それもこの世界ではよくあることです。

I feel we have done a good job of improving our team on the court and have recruited a good mix of youth and experience. I also expect Takuma and Koyo to have much improved performances this year after their intense summer with the Japanese B team. This has been a fantastic opportunity for them and while I have not seen a lot of them at training because they have been away what I have seen has given me great optimism. Their improvement is very obvious, and I can’t wait to let them free on the court.

我々はコート上のパフォーマンス面でのチームを補強できましたし、若手とベテランが適度にミックスされたリクルートができたと私は感じています。

卓磨と耕陽には日本代表Bチームの活動を通じ、激動の夏を乗り越えて、今シーズンは更に飛躍したパフォーマンスを見せてくれることと期待しています。

これは彼らにとって絶好の機会です。チームとは別に練習しているので彼らの練習するところをあまり見られていないのですが、私の見た限りは大いに期待感が膨らむ成長を見せてくれています。

彼らの成長は著しく、彼らをコートに解き放つのが待ち遠しいです。


The attitude of the players so far has been outstanding. They are working hard to be ready for this upcoming season and I can’t wait to get back from the USA to get back to work with the players. Nema has been doing a great job taking practice while Shinya and I have been away. Shinya will now take over until I return on July 25. The attitude of the players and leadership is fantastic. Our culture is improving all the time.

これまでの選手たちの取り組む姿勢は素晴らしく眼を見張るものがあります。

彼らは全力で来たるシーズンに向けて準備をしています。私もアメリカから帰って選手と共に活動するのが待ち遠しいです。

私と小川ACが不在の中、根間ACが練習を見てくれていました。

今度は7月25日に私が戻るまで小川ACが練習を引き継いでくれます。

選手たちの姿勢とリーダーシップが素晴らしいです。

チームカルチャーがどんどん良くなっています。

It is our goal to play a more up-tempo style this year which makes for exciting basketball and also will make us very competitive. This is why the players are working so hard to be in great physical condition. I look forward to getting back to Shiga and seeing you all soon

より速いテンポのバスケを展開することが我々の今シーズンの目標です。

それはエキサイティングなバスケを見せることになると同時に、我々が強い競争力を発揮することにも繋がります。

それをするために選手たちは、とてもハードにトレーニングへ取り組み、高い身体的コンディションを得るために努力をしています。

滋賀に戻り皆さんにお会いできることを楽しみにしています。
