クラブ創設10周年目の今シーズン、チームを率いるショーン・デニスHC。彼がチームに合流し2ヶ月、チームは着々と変化を見せ、開幕に向けて更に期待感が高まります。デニスHCブログ初回は、まさに今チームが取り組んでいる「Team Values」について語ってくれました。

An important part of changing team culture is to decide what your team stands for. In a way our team is like a family. All families have family values that they live by day by day and our team is no different. 

チームの文化を変える中で大切なことは、まずチームとは何かを明確にすることです。チームは私たちにとって家族と同様です。どの家族にも家族の価値観があり、毎日それを大切にしながら生活しているのと同じで、チームを語るときも違いはありません。

This year we have set some very challenging team values that we will all live by. This is done by the team members so they can decide what is important to them as a whole and then make sure all team members abide by these. In the meeting the players were asked to put ideas forward and discuss them. They were encourage to challenge any of the values if they did not believe in them. The end result was a number of values that we will all adhere to.

今年のチームはハードルの高い価値観を共有して取り組んでいくことになりました。選手たち当事者がチームにとって何が重要かを考え、全てのメンバーが同意した上でチームの価値観は決められました。このミーティングで選手たちはアイデアを出し合い、それについて討論しました。そしてその価値観に少しでも共感できなければ選手には積極的に意見を言わせました。その結果これから私たちがチームとして守っていく価値観が生まれたのです。

We have already had some challenges as a team and the team was able to meet those challenges head on by implementing their team values. An example of one of our team values is "Constant and Neverending Improvement." I see the team working on this value constantly. They are working hard on their own without being directed by the coach. This is a great step forward for our team and the belief in their team values.

すでにチームはいくつかのチャレンジに直面しましたがチームの価値観を再確認しチャレンジを乗り越えてくれました。チームの価値観の1つとして【飽くなき向上心】があります。私はチームが継続的にこの価値観に取り組んでいるのを見ています。彼らはコーチに言われなくとも自主的に頑張っています。これはチームにとって大きな前進であり、チームの価値観が浸透してきている証拠です。

The team values are a very powerful belief system and one we are proud to live by.

チームで価値観を共有することで強い信念を持って取り組むことができます。そんな価値観を私たちは誇りに思います。
